When I, as an Independent, I choose a political party to vote for, I first eliminate from my ballot candidates those parties that continue to deceive the people, betray the people, or are destroying – or trying to destroy – democracy. (If you want to check on democracy, you can read my previous article “What is Democracy?”.) No matter how good-sounding the promises of these political parties may be, I will never believe them. This is because these parties are groups that have destroyed or continue to destroy the constitutional democracy that they are supposed to observe.
Next, I check to see what role the remaining candidates have played in politics so far, that is, whether they have destroyed or helped destroy democracy, or whether they have resisted the forces to destroy democracy. In my case, I eliminate parties that I have confirmed belong to the former category at this stage. By following the political trends, even if only roughly, on a daily basis, not just during election season, we can make better choices.
Next, I look through the policies of the parties other than those excluded in the process above and narrow down the list of candidates to those parties that have favorable policies. (If there is no party I have excluded, then I look through the policies of all parties.) The thing to be careful of here is not to be swayed by policies that make fools of the people. For example, political parties that propose policies and pledges to hand out money in time for elections believe that they can buy votes with money. (By looking at the decision-making process and timing of the policy, you can generally judge whether it is an election tactic pork-barrel or not. If it is decided just before an election, it is highly likely to be a pork-barrel.) In other words, they are making a fool of the people. We must not be blinded by immediate money and sell off our democracy. This is because to get back the pieces of democracy that we have sold off, we will need more money, time, and effort than we have gained through the pork-barreling.
Finally, I vote for the party I think is the best among the remaining parties.
I know that there are many elections where you are not be able to find a candidate you really like, but let us continue to cast our votes in order to take even a single step forward toward the realization of democracy.

こんにちは。
Wall Egg and Seeds
「Wall Egg and Seeds」が公平な社会の実現の「種」になることを祈って。

Hello,
The name of this site, Wall Egg and Seeds, was inspired by a speech that a Japanese writer gave abroad in which he used the words “Wall” and “Egg” to describe the relationship between the powerful and the weak, and I combined these words with “Seeds”.
For me, the “wall” is the mighty power that denies democracy. The “egg” is the individual who tries to win and protect democracy in the name of democracy.
Most people feel that when “egg” hit the “wall,” she or he just breaks and the “wall” doesn’t take damage , and while there are many people who stand on the side of the “wall,” the number of people who try to stand on the side of the “egg” seems to be seriously decreasing. If this situation continues, I cannot help but feel that true democracy, far from being realized, but will be relegated somewhere as mere idealism.
Now that many adults have become silent about democracy, I have started “Wall Egg and Seeds” in the hope that it will be an opportunity for as many people as possible to think about the importance of democracy and take a step towards realizing it. I am not very good at writing, but thank you for reading.
May “Wall Egg and Seeds” be a “seed” for the realization of a fair world!
