As an independent, when I choose a candidate to vote for, the first thing I do is check which political party they are officially endorsed or recommended by. If they are independent, I check to see if they have belonged to any political party in the past and check their current connection to a specific political party.
Once I have confirmed the party affiliation, I will eliminate candidates who are connected to parties that continue to deceive the people, betray the people, or are destroying or trying to destroy democracy, because those candidates are part of, or are trying to become part of the group that is destroying the democracy that they are supposed to observe. Even if a candidate says something that goes against the policy of the political party the candidate is connected to, she or he will ultimately act in the party’s favor. In this way, many politicians have betrayed the people, continuing to increase distrust in politics. If a political party officially endorses or recommends a candidate, that means that the candidate is a convenient person for the party. Recently, more and more politicians tell lies without hesitation than ever before, and the reality is that there are even many who break their campaign promises after being elected and then continue to be politicians as if nothing had happened.
Once I have screened candidates based on their party affiliation, I can narrow down the list of candidates considerably.
Next, I look over the policies of the remaining candidates. In my case, I check whether the policies they put forward are designed from the perspective of the weak, and eliminate from the list of candidates those who do not. Regardless of the credibility of their policies, I will not vote for a candidate who cannot take the perspective of the weak at the election stage.
Finally, we compare the remaining candidates comprehensively, select the candidate who seems more likely to be able to help us achieve democracy, and vote for her or him.
I know that there are many elections where you are not be able to find a candidate you really like, but let us continue to cast our votes in order to take even a single step forward toward the realization of democracy.

Wall Egg and Seeds
「Wall Egg and Seeds」

Hello,
The name of this site, Wall Egg and Seeds, was inspired by a speech that a Japanese writer gave abroad in which he used the words “Wall” and “Egg” to describe the relationship between the powerful and the weak, and I combined these words with “Seeds”.
For me, the “wall” is the mighty power that denies democracy. The “egg” is the individual who tries to win and protect democracy in the name of democracy.
Most people feel that when “egg” hit the “wall,” she or he just breaks and the “wall” doesn’t take damage , and while there are many people who stand on the side of the “wall,” the number of people who try to stand on the side of the “egg” seems to be seriously decreasing. If this situation continues, I cannot help but feel that true democracy, far from being realized, but will be relegated somewhere as mere idealism.
Now that many adults have become silent about democracy, I have started “Wall Egg and Seeds” in the hope that it will be an opportunity for as many people as possible to think about the importance of democracy and take a step towards realizing it. I am not very good at writing, but thank you for reading.
May “Wall Egg and Seeds” be a “seed” for the realization of a fair world!
